Anna Shoemaker (feat. Middle Part) – It’s Depression

Second single to be released from her debut album set to be launched in Spring 2022, Anna Shoemaker pleases us with It’s Depression, a dynamic and jumpy track, expressing very intimate feelings on the serious theme of anxiety in love relationships for a young adult.
Ooooh I love this pick bass line… it sounds like the engine of a truck, precise and solid, it drives the song from start to end. This song has something punky in its rhythmic foundation, then the vocal arrangements add the energy the tune diffuses. It reminds me of these candies, sweet on the surface but full of popping sugar.

The singer-songwriter from Philadelphia teams up with Middle Part on this single, a Brooklyn-based friend of hers but also an artist who has been in Anna’s live band for a while and is credited on some of her previous songs.
Your first reaction listening to It’s Depression, and especially on a Friday night after a long week, will be to shake that body of yours, however, you’ll soon realise the gravity behind the lyrics and these words will slowly get printed in your memory until you’ll find yourself singing that catchy chorus… very loudly sometimes. Well, that’s what my neighbour just told me… hum…

“Middle Part and I similarly overthink a lot of things and, to me, that’s kind of what this is about. It’s an anxiety attack in a song,” Anna Shoemaker commented about It’s Depression. Once again, music is a therapy.
