“knuckle tattoo is a memory of being lost on the east side of Portland,” Lauren Luiz, aka girlhouse, said. Ok… so, I do have a request for the administration of Portland: please make roads, signs and maps super complicated so we will continue to listen to treasures like knuckle tattoo!
Honestly, this song is so addictive, you will play it on repeat over and over… at least 108 times… but be careful, at the 108th time, you and your phone might get lost and you might run out of change!

The constant guitar boosted with overdrive effect composes the foundation of this song, then Lauren poses her voice, between singing and talking, like a conversation, the bass comes to support and provide transition to the chorus when the 80s electronic drums pop up and complete the blast of energy.

About knuckle tattoo, Lauren, who is now based in Nashville, continues: “it was inspired by the grungy guitar constantly chugging on the single notes throughout the song. Tyler and I produced it in just a few hours, it came so naturally and felt so energetic with the 80’s drum machine drums and the guitar lines.“

I must admit, I love the minimalist approach of the song: two chords in the guitar riff, same for the bass which is even replaced by the bass drum on verses, exactly when the hit-hat stops to highlight the voice of Lauren through which, words are spread sparingly but so efficiently. That’s it… well, actually no… I forgot a heavy dose of talent, which offers us a compelling indie rock song.

So please girlhouse, continue to explore the surburbs of Portland or wherever and produce smashing indie hits!
