Glitterfox – Married to the Ground

Married to the Ground is Glitterfox‘s raw and emotive contribution to the world. And what a wonderful artistic creation it is! With ups and downs, the musicality of Glitterfox‘s song Married to the Ground will have you singing high and low notes, whether appreciated by your entourage or not. So put your headphones on, clear your throat and get ready for a bumpy ride!

This insatiably addictive song, Married to the Ground by Glitterfox, starts with distinct guitar plucking followed by a warm bass-line and heartbeat like drum pounds. If this isn’t enough to catch your attention in its own right, then don’t despair, as Glitterfox‘s lead vocalist will stop you dead in your tracks. The smooth yet husky trilling lays all emotions bare for you to feel through your core, right down to the bone. Solange Igoa’s deep timbre vocals not only reveal vulnerability and frailness but at the same time yield a power and a strength to be reckoned with. One can’t help comparing these qualities to the likes of Stevie Nicks.

The American indie-folk group Glitterfox came to be in Longbeach, California, after a backyard party of all things, and are now working out of Portland, Oregon. The members are Solange Igoa (lead vocals), her wife Andrea Walker (guitar and back-up vocals) and good friend Erik Stalker (bass). More recently, this trio became a quartet with the addition of Blaine Heinonen (drums).

The song Married to the Ground is actually about depression and feeling alone. I am on my knees my hands seep deep into the earth / I am screaming please as I move through the dirt / My heart is heavier than any rock or any stone / I could ever hold. About the song writing process, Andrea Walker once stated, “There’s always an element in the songs of going through troubles, going through struggles or challenges, but just trying to keep your head up—and trying to keep going and not give up. Each song was written from just a very real place.

Married to the Ground is the first single on Glitterbox‘s recently released five track EP titled Night. There is a previous EP titled Fringe, also housing five tracks, so plenty to go and explore if you manage to get Married to the Ground off looping mode! This talented, peppy, down to earth group may just be your discovery of the day, week or year, so press play without delay!
