Yves Paquet – Heart of Giants

Yves Paquet, the folk storyteller strikes again! Heart of Giants will take you to a vast volcanic paved road surrounded by wet green meadows where the smell of fresh peat competes with the cold sprays of the ocean. The end of the pathway is lit by this lively welcoming pub made of stones, on the edge of a gaelic country, where singing is a religion, and the land, beaten by the North wind, is warmed up by people’s hearts.
So put your headphones on, enjoy a good stout and Sláinte Mhaith!

Yves Paquet

Yves Paquet was born in Brazil and lives in Belgium, however, I’m pretty sure he was Irish or Scottish in his previous life. He released his first solo work called Every Now And Then in 2021, his very own vision of a colorful pop album. Yves Paquet started his career in the music world with many collaborations on the international dance scene, including the German-language hit “UFO” with The Subs (#1 in the Belgian dance charts). Since then, his artistic development has known no boundaries and experimenting with genres has fascinated him since the beginning of his musical career. His upcoming second album A Decent Man is thematically based on numerous trips to Ireland, UK and Bretagne and their folk music tradition. Banjos, violins and guitars play an important role in it.

Heart of Giants

Heart of Giants will be part of his second album A Decent Man which will be released on February 24th. The single is inspired by the legend of Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland, where an ancient volcanic eruption formed a path made of flat stones.

The track is an ode to the gaelic land, made of fairy tales and mythical stories. The ones you’re typically listening to, while having a beer in a pub where sorrows and laughter follow each other from song to song.
The banjo and acoustic guitar (including the drumming on the guitar sound box) at the beginning of Heart of Giants is setting the atmosphere right away. Yves Paquet’s voice is… well… I mean, the guy can pretty much sing whatever he wants! His vocal part conveys the folky emotion with an astonishing precision. Perfect intonation, perfect blending with the banjo/guitar part which is also amazing. Last but not least, the captivating bass introduction at 1:44 makes Heart of Giants a splendid folk composition!

Yves is an artist we follow very closely at headphonik. Heart of Giants is the fourth song from our Belgian friend we publish after A Southern Tale, Year Without Rain and The Conqueror.
And we hope there will be many more!

About headphonik

We are musicians and to help unknown or “less” known artists to promote their art, we became curators, so we curate and explore the web to find what’s really good and probably underrated in independent music.
Enjoy and take care.
