Little Quirks – The Rain

Have you ever experienced that purgative feeling of tensions releasing from your system while dancing in the rain? That invigorating and thrilling renewal of energy rouses a sense of freedom ready to intoxicate you. Well the Australian group, Little Quirks, have encapsulated all of these sentiments in their brilliant song The Rain. So put your headphones on and prepare for an instant energy boost!

The message of liberty starts immediately as the enchanting vocals and guitar strumming debut the song The Rain by Little Quirks. The melodic vocals increase in intensity and some poignant drum pounding reverberates before a perfectly harmonious chorus of voices chant the refrain creating an anthem feel. And who doesn’t love to loudly sing along with an anthem? An experience just as cathartic as dancing in the rain. But seriously, the carefully construed mix of harmonic vocals with stirring instrument arrangements, in the song The Rain by Little Quirks, has produced an original piece of art just waiting to uplift you.

The indie folk-pop group Little Quirks is a family affair composed of sisters Abbey Toole (guitar, vocals) and Mia Toole (drums, vocals) along with their cousin Jaymi Toole (mandolin, vocals). These New South Wales born and bred family members have more recently been joined by Jaymi’s older brother Alex Toole (bass guitar) and Jordan Rouse (electric guitar). The family ties as well as the stunning music and harmonious vocals draw many parallels to The Corrs in their day.

We call to unknowns
And I’ll wait and I’ll wait til everyone knows
And I’ll reach out and hold on
And I’ll scream and I’ll scream
Til we’ve all had our fun

Hey ya da di da da

About the song The Rain, Little Quirks vocalist Abbey Toole told Atwood Magazine, “Since I was very young I have had a deep love for the rain; for the sound, the relief, and the excitement it always brings me. Whenever I wake up and it’s raining, it brings me joy. This song was written on a stormy night in my bedroom. I just imagined being out there running and dancing around in it and this song came out. We actually recorded a lot of this song in our home studio in the backyard which is our favourite place to record. For the ‘Hey Ya’s’ in the chorus, we wanted a big, roomy chant so we hired The Grove Studios near our house. Everyone in the session that day (including the sound engineers & producer) sung the chorus as a big group. We’re really happy with how it turned out.

Little Quirks released the exhilarating song The Rain in March 2022. Although they have already published three previous EP’s (which are just waiting for you to check out!) The Rain is yet to be accommodated on an album. So as well as adding The Rain by Little Quirks to your feel good playlist, keep your senses alert for the release of further material from this talented, stand out group!
