Pepperwood – Cup of Tea
Cup of Tea from Pepperwood is a little bit stronger than you could think. No need to prepare scones or shortbread biscuits darling, because you’ll be moving that great body of yours and singing your little heart out, right after you press play. The Nashville band comes back with a punchy indie rock piece which will boost your energy for the day!
So put your headphones on and, as Zach says rightfully in the song, set the person next to you on fire (not literally ok? Musically and with passion please)!
Pepperwood is Zach Wyatt on mic and guitars, Tyler Owens on bass and background vocals, Andrew Cantrell on guitars and background vocals and Alan Bonk on drums. If you don’t know this band yet and you like good indie rock, I suggest you go check the link below.

They are not only great artists with varied influences or a mix of “unique musical flavors” as they say, no, they are also very nice and genuine guys. In their official bio, they simply specify “Pepperwood as an idea, was started with one goal: to move people – whether their hearts or their feet, and if we were lucky, we’ll do both.”
Pepperwood is releasing this Friday, yep, just in a few hours, their new single called Cup of Tea. And, whether it’s the morning for you at the moment, or the afternoon, or even if you are sleeping right now, a good Cup of Tea shall never be refused!
This one has a dynamic and energetic rhythm, thanks to solid drums and a robust bass line/sound, I particularly like that chromatic fill structure in the chorus. Brilliant.
Zach and Andrew’s guitar parts are very complementary, they add that melodious drive which takes you through the story of the song. The staccato rhythmic part is mesmerising, I was still singing the song in my shower this morning and that section was stuck into my head!
And then, in my opinion, we have the cherry on top of this great tune, quite a big cherry in my mind, it’s more a watermelon coloured in red there: the vocal performance. Oh my… Zach… what a great act!!!

About the title “Cup of Tea”, obviously that comes from the first paragraph in the lyrics exploring the self-esteem theme. Zach said to headphonik: “This song is very simple on the surface level but came from a few specific places. I was struggling with my self confidence and self image, and was trying to “fake it till you make it” when I wrote this, and had several pursuits fall through in a short time, and so I wrote this about feeling underestimated.”
