Molly Burman – Everytime

Charles Bukowski once said “If you have the ability to love, love yourself first.” This is exactly what Molly Burman expresses in her self-addressed love letter Everytime, the second track of her EP Fool Me With Flattery, released in 2021.
The Irish London-based singer-songwriter has delivered, once again, very honest and personal lyrics in this song. The melody is also excellent, groovy with a touch of Brazilian bossa nova, wrapped in a pop package. So put your headphones on and love yourself!

When you listen to the bass and drums of the single Everytime, you could imagine yourself having a Caïpirinha on the beach in Brazil, taking advantage of life and listening to headphonik (of course!). However, this is without counting on the genius of Molly Burman, mixing sunny beats with pop vocals and guitar chords. The whole is so groovy and catchy that you will find yourself browsing Spotify for Molly’s superb work.

Self-love is a journey you start roughly as a teen and you never quite finish. Molly’s lyrics, very intimate, are a lesson of self-esteem based on her personal experience.
“’Everytime’ is about my sad excuse for a love life. I used to be so obsessed with dating and getting validation from guys, but they just kept ghosting me. It got to a point where I realised I needed to accept that I was going to be on my own for a while and might as well start loving my own company. It’s like a sort of love letter to myself, always there to remind me that I am enough and I am exactly what I want.”

I’m more than nice and fun
Not someone to leave behind
Stuck in my own mind
When will I see
I’m exactly what I want
