Telenova – Blue Valentine

Melbourne based supergroup, Telenova recently released the electro-indie-pop single Blue Valentine. It is the third track on their debut EP titled Tranquilize and what an amazing track it is. Telenova described their music as, “cinema for your ears” and Blue Valentine doesn’t disappoint. It is a journey which will have you hooked, so put your headphones on and join the odyssey!

The acoustic guitar opens this song, Blue Valentine, accompanied by vivid vocals. These elements are quickly joined by a funky drum beat and a groovy bass rhythm that continue for the duration of the hit. Electronic atmospherics add a misty, contemporary feel. The attention wielding vocals are sensitive and soft at times, strong and governing at others. These amazing ingredients mixed together are a recipe for delicious… success.

Replay the vows and all the words
That we spoke in the cinema inside my mind
Intoxicated with the trouble I wrote
All the heartache that I leave behind

At times, we can be our own worst enemy – dramatising events in our head, exaggerating experiences, sometimes inflicting more pain and prolonging suffering. Yep, as ludicrous as it sounds, many of us have done that! The lyrics of Blue Valentine touch on this torment and the cinematography which takes place in our own minds. We are all directors and producers of our own soap opera! Lights, camera, action!

The members of Telenova met fortuitously at a song-writing workshop. Sparks flew and the trio quickly started conjuring enchantment. The Aussie supergroup is made up of Angeline Armstrong, Joshua Moriarty (from Melbourne group Miami Horror) and Edward Quinn (from Melbourne group Slum Sociable). This multi-talented threesome are the winning trifecta and we can feel a favourable future for them! So go on, check out Blue Valentine and Telenova ASAP!
