The Attic Sleepers – Berlin

The falsetto voice, in this piece Berlin by The Attic Sleepers, catches me hook, line and sinker, from start to finish. The long chords on the keyboards support the amazing vocals for the first 30 seconds until some percussion, electric drums, guitar and more keyboards join the party. Then a celebration, of sync-pop style and deliciously dreamy melodies, bubbles over and leaves your ears in awe.

The Danish duo of Mathias Barfod Boll (vocals, guitar, xylophone and keys) and Matias Knigge Laursen (drums) make up The Attic Sleepers. This Copenhagen based group actually travelled to Germany for some creative inspiration. They stayed in Berlin for 8 months, hence the title of the track which is about their experiences in the hectic capital city as well as touching on escapism and freedom.

Mathias Barfod Boll once said, “We don’t see ourselves as a Danish band, because we think we have an international sound that we want to spread.” We think that the song Berlin should be spread too! This captivating and intriguing number appears on their debut eight track EP titled Transit which was released in 2017. Check it out!
