Goddess911 – Carrying
The alchemists, which are Goddess911, have concocted a little piece of magic with the creation of the song Carrying. There is something enchanting and wonderfully different about their music that has you listening to it on repeat until you wear out your ears. The song Carrying casts a spell on you. So put your headphones on and get ready to be bewitched by this unique hex!
The delicious acoustic guitar debuts the track Carrying and remains omnipresent from start to finish. These strums are then accompanied by delicate, ethereal vocals that have you humming along, too afraid to ruin the sound by actually singing yourself. Then the spell is fine tuned with the conjuring of various instruments cleverly arranged to bedazzle your ears. The vocal layering towards the end of the song is a real charm.
If we slip and break the mirror
From the secret waves we gather
All the breath you make is glowing now
Temples hidden in the pollen
Rail yards are overgrowing
I just wanna hear the quiet now
The poetic lyricism tells a story which the amazing vocals compel you to listen to. With all the hardships, tension and devastation the world has experienced in such a short space of time, the song Carrying by Goddess911, was inspired. About their EP and the song, Carrying, Goddess911 once stated, “All of our tracks on our EP are grappling with the strength it takes to have a little bit of optimism about the world right now – and where to turn to when you are despairing. Our song Carrying is in a way about our alienation from one another.”
So who are the alchemists who make up Goddess911? Two friends who, until they decided to have a jam, didn’t even realise the wizardry they were capable of. Alister Wright (Cloud Control, Vlossom) and Samuel Lockwood (The Jezabels) are Goddess911, and aren’t we lucky that these Sydney siders finally put two and two together. About their collaboration, they said on social media that, “The two of us had been friends, but had never tried making music together. When we gave it a go we seemed to open up a strange new world. We both have strong feelings about many things and these songs reflect those feelings. Most of all we wanted to make music that is soft and lovely. And that might sound a bit earnest but it’s the whole thing!”
Earnest or not, we love your chemistry and the product of your partnership. To check out the song Carrying and more from Goddess911, listen to their debut EP titled I Fucked It Up (IFIU) which was released in 2022. About headphonik
We are musicians and to help unknown or “less” known artists to promote their art, we became curators, so we curate and explore the web to find what’s really good and probably underrated in independent music.
Enjoy and take care.
