Cinders – Thrown in the Water

We are just head over heels for Cinders and the amazing sound they produce. Their track Thrown in the Water, released in 2021, is yet another reason to love the vibe they create. Thrown in the Water features on Cinders‘ latest album titled No One’s Home. So put your headphones on and start to feel the love!

Thrown in the Water starts off slowly with smooth vocals coupled with gentle guitar strums. Then as the song proceeds, a creamy base and complimentary drum pulse partake to steadily increase the pace. All this culminates and leaves you inevitably jiggling around and rocking your head back and forth. The melodious vocals emanate emotion of displeasure, regret. Perhaps a story of an unexpected break-up, a rift or an estrangement.

I miss the rolling of your chair
Every time I’d walk down the stairs
It hits from every side
I didn’t know that warning signs
And tunnel lights were friends
They were friends

Even though the lyrics present an ominous situation, the charmingly warm melodies are somewhat uplifting. On social media, the group Cinders stated, “Life is tough and full of gnarly emotions. This album exposes us and makes us feel quite vulnerable but we’re so proud of it. But just because we write a sad song doesn’t mean it has to sound sad, because life can still be a party if you’re sad.“

Cinders is a Salt Lake City based group comprising of three friends – Montana Smith (vocals and guitar), Adrian De La Cruz (bass) and Brad Bennett (drums). As mentioned earlier, we love the energy Cinders generates and recommend checking out their work. Enjoy!
