Beau – Dreamer

Dreamer from Beau is that kind of energising song which gives you that little boost when you’re listening to it. You’re walking on the street, listening on your headphonik playlist (of course, what else?), and there comes Dreamer, so you walk a little bit faster and you soon realise you’re smiling. You know, that kind of song. So put your headphones on and start walking faster!

“Beau” is the masculine and neutral singular form of the adjective “beautiful” in French, you can say that a man is “beau” for instance, or use it to describe an object or a concept. Ok, enough of the grammar lesson. “You’re a dream, I am a dreamer” sings Beau in Dreamer. Well, simple things are, once again, the most efficient and I think this concept is “beau”: we need dreams to become a dreamer and we can’t be a dreamer without dreams.

Beau says about their song, “‘Dreamer’ is a song meant to encapsulate a modern rock-n-roll universe. There are lyrical references to love and the intricacies of finding the right person. This song is meant to carry you through deep and challenging feelings with ease and grace.”

The New-York City dream pop duo Beau is comprised of Heather Goldin and Emma Jenney, Heather being the main vocalist in Dreamer. I particularly like the vocal harmonies in this track, they go a bit crescendo through the song and drive you forward alongside the drums, whereas the piano and the guitar are mostly used to set the atmosphere up at the beginning of the tune. I bet you’ll soon be bobbing your head with the beat and sing these “Ooh ooh ooh ooh“… Did you already? See? Told you.

Even though Dreamer was released in 2021, it’s also the second track of Beau‘s 7-tracks album called Forever (and more) which was released early 2022. Go check it out and keep nodding that head!
