Ferris & Sylvester – Superhuman

Oh to be superhuman! There is nothing like a partnership to build you up and develop your self esteem, nonetheless such a relationship can highlight your limits just as easily, leaving you feeling well… inadequate. British indie blues rock duo Ferris & Sylvester give prominence to this point in their recently released single Superhuman. Their frustration and indignation is palpable thanks to the powerful musicality and vocals of the piece.

Issy Ferris (singer-songwriter, bassist) and Archie Sylvester (singer-songwriter, guitarist) joined forces after meeting at the Camden Spiritual Bar where they were both performers, and aren’t we glad they did! Now a singing-songwriting super-couple, they bring to us raw, tangible material that we can all relate to! That’s a recipe for success! Speaking about the song Superhuman, the two artists explained, “This song has always felt like an introduction into our world, we don’t pretend to be this perfect couple, nor have we ever been interested in portraying that. No story is a straight line.”

The groovy, electric guitar riffs that harmonise with the extraordinary vocals lead the exciting warrior drum kicks and the steady bass line that harnesses the rhythm of this piece. The vocals perpetuate a dialogue of question and answer, push and pull, a challenge and then acceptance that alas, we are not superhumans. One feels like a fly on the wall, bearing witness to a scene in a film. With Ferris taking the low keys and Sylvester the high ones, their voices in unison complement each other and equally dominate the song.

They might not be superhuman but if this is the calibre of music produced by Ferris & Sylvester, then save the date for the release of their debut super-album also titled Superhuman, on March 11, 2022!
