Ferris & Sylvester – Sickness

Sickness from Ferris & Sylvester is the kind of crescendo song where you’ll start listening to it laying down, relax on your couch, and you’ll finish totally clung to your chandelier with fire in your eyes. It will give you goosebumps and make you lose your voice the next day because you screamed too much. So put your headphones on and become voiceless!

The vocals in this song, Sickness, are pure delight. There are even some magnificent acapella parts where I challenge you not to hum or sing. To be honest, I love Archie Sylvester’s voice but, in this song, the voice of Issy Ferris is just… just… (sigh)… I think she’s from another galaxy, her voice matches the song so well, it is so strong and so… I don’t know, genuine? Anyway, both voices are so complimentary that Sickness is beauty in sound waves.

“Sickness was one of the first songs we wrote together. It came quickly and felt powerful almost instantly. It’s about human relationships – the power and the frustration – and the desire to throw it all away. It felt important to keep it raw and let the song speak for itself. Everything you hear was tracked live and a lot of it was recorded in one take, the guitar solo and vocals for instance. It’s our proudest piece of work to date,” Ferris & Sylvester commented.

It is definitely raw and powerful, and you can feel this rage growing inside you throughout the song, just like when you reach your personal limits.

Musically, in Sickness, the bottleneck guitar and the harmonica are like two dancers in osmosis, this bluesy rock, or rocky blues will give you the chills. Ferris & Sylvester‘s emotional art will undoubtedly reach your heart.

Time to go home now, but on the way, I’ll keep listening to Sickness from Ferris & Sylvester and their whole wonderful discography. By the way, they are about to launch a new album so stay alert.
