Jax Anderson feat. Yoke Lore – Tender

Right from the very first words sung, I was hooked by Jax Anderson ‘s indie pop anthem called Tender featuring Yoke Lore. What a dynamic collaboration by two extremely talented artists to create a powerful yet sensitive piece. Moving, in a physical sense as the song spurs you to move around the place, as well as moving, in an emotional uplifting sense. So put your headphones on and get ready to be … moved!

Jax Anderson‘s euphonic, feathery vocals convey a certain fragility and vulnerability which enables us to let down our guard and listen intently to the profound lyrics of Tender. At the same time, an undeniable strength is perceived when Jax sings, ‘And just because I’m tender, it doesn’t mean I’m weak‘. Then Yoke Lore‘s blissful, melodious voice sings the refrain, increasing the rhythm and intensity of the track. His emphasises the previous tangible strength while singing, ‘And you decide on what you’re worth‘. A whirlwind of various, carefully arranged percussion sounds accompany the perfectly complimentary vocals providing a unique pop vibe.

Jax Anderson, once known under the name of Flint Eastwood, is a Detroit singer-songwriter and musician. About the song Tender, she stated, “Tender is about learning to view vulnerability as a superpower because it is. It’s about how softness can oftentimes be viewed as weak, but really it takes so much strength to allow yourself to be soft. I wrote this track with Adrian while overlooking the Detroit skyline & it’s one of my favorite songs from the upcoming record: Songs For Every Condition“.

Adrian Galvin, aka Yoke Lore, is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and much more, from New York. About the song Tender, which he co-wrote with Jax, he once said, “Tender is a song about uncertainty in the face of lies we’ve all been led to believe in. One of the first lies we’re told is that uncertainty is a bad thing, that confusion is chaos and that chaos is a bad state to inhabit. But I think as we all grow and develop personal truths of our own, we learn that the absolutes that we were fed aren’t so absolute. Chaos can be a beautiful thing. Uncertainty can be the root of exploration and discovery, and that confusion is the seed of insight and the ability to find good questions in the world. The primacy of strength is another myth that we all must debunk for ourselves at one point or another. Sooner or later we are faced with the fallibility of muscle. It behooves us to find another way to interact with our struggle. To adapt, embrace, to change is to move beyond the fight. How can you be happy or healthy or go to nice dinners or out with your friends if you’re busy fighting for your life all the time? Try a little tenderness. Be gracious with yourself, gentle on your hard parts. This song is about sloughing off the old truths that don’t serve us any longer so that we can all become the vanguard of a new consciousness that throws away prejudice and strong-man politics and the frantic cold-war era mindset of American freedom. We can decide our own future. And in that future, I think Jax and I would like to set up a different conception of ideas like tenderness and explore how they can be more fundamentally incorporated into our daily lives. Because we all need tenderness like we need air and water. Let’s not be so stingy.”

The merging of these two amazing artists, Jax Anderson and Yoke Lore, for the song Tender, has created a storm and certainly has us excited. And what is more, it’s not the first time they have formed an alliance! Checking out their previous work just seems logical, including Jax Anderson‘s latest album titled Songs For Every Condition released in 2021. Yoke Lore has a range of material to be delved into including a single called Stock Flesh, released in 2022.
