Mallory Merk – Sinister

Mallory Merk‘s appeasing but alluring vocals on the hit Sinister, bestride the tightly woven array of instruments which are omnipresent. The keyboards are simultaneously rhythmic and melodic, and play in unison with the bass, which coordinates with the guitar and vocals. The drums slap at the back to give a constant rhythm. But once again, it’s Merk’s charming vocals which take you for a ride in this piece.

The first single of the Louisiana born but New Jersey bred artist’s debut LP titled Counterparts, Sinister talks about protecting the ones we love from the harm which can be found all around. About the song, Mallory Merk said, “‘Sinister’ is about shielding someone you love from the people who don’t appreciate them – all of the toxic friends and people who are just trying to take advantage of them. When you love someone so deeply that you don’t want anything or anyone to hurt them, you build walls around them to isolate the damage that can be inflicted by the outside world. The people I love deserve the best, and I want to do everything in my power to protect them.”
