Evergreen – Guess What

One’s prima facie when first hearing Guess What by Evergreen is what delicious ear candy. This original synth-pop creation is a treat and so much fun to listen to. It feels like the perfect song to chill with; generating a feeling of being on holiday.

French duo Michael Liot (vocals and string instruments) and Fabienne Débarre (vocals, keyboards and xylophone), who make up Evergreen, met as literature students in Paris and now base themselves in London. Guess What is the first single released from their latest album titled Sign In.

The song broaches the topic of social media and how it affects communication in a relationship and more specifically an ex-relationship. Regarding the song Guess What, the pair stated, “It’s inspired by the many ways in which technology and social media platforms prevent the natural process of closure from a former relationship. A song written as a series of slightly stalky text messages to an ex-lover, reminding them of one’s presence. It’s meant to be a little nostalgic and a little creepy.”
