Fieh – Telephone Girl

If you call 4157882, you might be able to talk to Sofie Tollefsbøl, the lead singer of Fieh, however, she might be swimming or driving, so you’d rather leave a message as she’s not at all a Telephone Girl. “This song is a public apology to everyone who’s ever tried to call me. It’s not you, it’s me”, she said, so there you go, you’ve been warned.
Although, I must admit, if her answering message is as groovy as Telephone Girl, I might try to call her a few dozen times just to listen to this catchy piece of soul music.

Telephone Girl has a bass line which good vibes will haunt you for a long time. Once you add Sofie’s smooth voice, the nice clear guitar sound, the fantastic Moog bass, the nifty trumpet arrangements, the cool keyboard chords and the reach-my-soul drums with the 16th notes on the hi-hat and the 1950s toms’ sounds, you won’t feel like picking up the phone anymore!

Formed in 2014, Fieh, the rural Norwegian septet is composed of old school mates who are Sofie Tollefsbøl on vocals (yeah, turns out she’s more of a mic girl actually), Solveig Wang on bass clarinet & Moog bass, Ola Øverby on drums & percussion, Andreas Rukan on bass, Jørgen Kasbo on guitars, Kai von der Lippe on keyboards and Lyder Øverås Røed on trumpet, flugelhorn & horn arrangements. All dressed in orange (if you don’t believe me, check their website fiehmusic.com), they already released in 2019 the excellent Cold Water Burning Skin and are about to launch their new album In the Sun in the Rain on March 4th 2022! Just another month or so to wait!

Oh, my mum is ringing, I better take this one though…
