Masaya – Attention

Can you hear that organ and wah-wah guitar, not to mention the groovy bass and the funky drums in Attention, Masaya‘s new single? That’s it, it’s summer! Clothes off! To the beach! Wow wow wait… not so fast dude… First, I would keep at least a leaf down there if I were you, and second, how can you swim with your headphones on? So please, at least keep those on and enjoy Masaya‘s vibes!

The band from Raglan, New-Zealand, now based in Auckland, released a brand new sun-kissed track called Attention, and it’s breathing summer vibes! It’s also about getting someone’s attention from, I quote, an “under the moonlight dancing” audience.
“Attention is all about living in the moment, going with the vibes and connecting on the dancefloor. It was so much fun to make and we can’t wait to share it with our fans,” says frontman Reiki Ruawai.

Well, if you’d bring a dancefloor to me right now, I’m pretty sure I’d connect with it! And Masaya‘s groovy funky-disco music definitely caught my attention.

Originally formed for a university project, the Kiwi band Masaya is composed of Reiki Ruawai on vocals and guitar, sister Kaea Ruawai on drums, Jules Blewman on lead guitar, Joe Kaptein on keys, and Nat Hathaway on bass.
Their first EP Tongue and Groove, released in 2019, has now gone over 1 million streams on Spotify.
The song Attention was co-written by former bandmate Muroki and is part of the forthcoming debut album of the band due for release in June 2022.

Masaya‘s work is definitely worth a listen, so let me put my headphones back on before I drop this leaf… oops.
