Nothing I Wanna Know About from The Bamboos will take you straight to a parallel funk dimension where people do not walk in the street with a sad look, but dance and smile all day long. It’s perfect for Summer time as it is a ticket to a groovy planet. So put your headphones on and pack your bags!

Ok, I admit, we can not really consider The Bamboos as an indie band as the act was formed in 2000 and they were the first soul/funk Aussie group to tour the UK and Europe back in the time. However, I am not sure everyone knows them and a bit of promotion never killed anyone.
The Bamboos is a nine-piece band which was founded in Melbourne by New-Zealand guitarist and songwriter/producer Lance Ferguson. The band includes a killer vocalist, the wonderful Kylie Auldist. That woman is amazing, there is something of Nina Simone and Etta James in her voice which is magical.
These two are very well supported by Yuri Pavlinov on bass, Daniel Mougerman on keys, Graeme Pogson on drums & percussion, Ross Irwin on trumpet, Damon Grant on tenor sax, Phil Noy on baritone sax and John Castle who mixes and plays multiple instruments.

Nothing I Wanna Know About is a pure piece of funk. And when I say “pure”, I mean that genuine sound from the 60-70s. Listen to this guitar playing staccato high notes, the drum & bass insane groovy rhythm and this powerful brass section. Add to this a superb vocalist and you have the perfect recipe to funk the entire planet.

The Bamboos released in 2021 the very very very good album Hard Up, which I can only recommend you to run and listen to. Nothing I Wanna Know About is the 4th track of the LP but it has also just been launched as a double single vinyl 7” with the track Bad Line as a side B.
