Teenage Joans – Wine

Wine by Teenage Joans is a lively, dynamic track that will have you thrusting your head and body back and forth with a certain velocity from the 10 second mark all the way to the very end. The catchy rhythm and vocals will snag you then reel you in, hook, line and sinker. So put your headphones on and get ready to be snagged.

The single Wine by Teenage Joans has an instant allure with loud, captivating guitar riffs and punchy, in your face, drum beats. The sound produced is potent and exciting. The vocals are brooding and boisterous in equal measure. The chorus definitely has you singing along. The arrangement of all these elements together gives a punk vibe which is absolutely to die for.

Now that were black and blue
You left my number in your broken phone
Hey now I’ll get back to you
I guess I’ll spill my guts out after the tone

When discussing the song Wine with the site musicfeeds, Teenage Joans said, “‘Wine’ is the closing track to the EP, our personal favourite Teenage Joans song, and possibly even the best song we’ve written at this point in time. There was a lot of pressure in doing this song justice because it’s definitely one of the deeper songs we’ve written. Although it feels happy and upbeat, it talks about the strenuous push and pull of two people growing apart in a relationship and the bittersweet feeling of it being no one’s fault. The strangest thing about the writing process of this song is that it actually started with the bridge. The climax lyric in the song “you aged like wine and I still haven’t aged to like wine” is a lyric that we are so incredibly proud of and sometimes can’t even believe that we wrote. We wanted the song to feel like a coming of age movie song, and we want people to feel like the main character when they listen to it.
